Just a quick note to say that I crossed the river and went down to the talkSport studios today to talk about the project on the Hawksbee and Jacobs show (two very funny guys). Like a lot of debuts, my first radio appearance started off quite nervously with a few misplaced passes but I soon settled into it and gave a solid performance. Got, got, got, need! is also going to be featured in the Sport magazine given out free on Fridays outside London train stations so get your hands on a copy if you can (the magazine cover featured above is last Fridays).
Ryan Nelsen

Today it’s the turn of the Blackburn and New Zealand centre half Ryan Nelsen. There could be an unplanned flight back to England for the kiwi if his team stays in longer than predicted and his second child doesn’t (the World Cup and the womb respectively). Although he has only been sent off once in his career, the aggresive holding midfielder is never far from controversy. The great Dane has been spat at by Francesco Totti in the 2004 European Championships and also had run-ins with Totti’s Italian team mate Gennaro Gattuso, but it is this incident which is probably his highest profile misdemeanor. In a recent World Cup warm up match against New Zealand, the German based target man they call ‘Super Nova’ scored two fine free-kicks and in the process fired a warning shot to his group C rivals USA, England and Algeria. At 6’4″, the striker will pose Slovenia’s most obvious physical threat when the tournament kicks off in a weeks time. The curse of GGGN!

The ‘Got, got, got, need!’ project originally included just four Chelsea players who were bound for South Africa with their respective national teams. After painstakingly painting the Chelsea foursome several months ago they have now, spookily, one by one, suffered injuries which will keep them from the World Cup finals. The first to be ruled out was the German captain Michael Ballack with this ankle injury sustained in the FA Cup Final, then came Michael Essien of Ghana who failed to recover from a knee injury. Yesterday brought news that the Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba looks likely to miss out due to an elbow injury (though it is not definite yet) and today comes the sad news that Nigeria’s John Obi Mikel will also not take part, early reports put this down to a knee injury.
I predict a wave of commissions from Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool supporters for the Chelsea player they fear/dislike most, though if that happens to be Lampard, Terry or one of the Coles, please wait for the start of the new Premiership season.
Robin Van Persie

After being raised in Rotterdam by artistic parents (his mother was a painter and his father a sculptor), Robin was never likely to become a center-half cart horse or a midfield water carrier. With spectacular goals like this one you could say the dutch master has carried on the family trade, albeit using the goal as his canvas. After qualifying against the odds for the first time since 1966, the weight of North Korean expectation falls squarely on the shoulders of Hong Yong-Jo. The striker, who plays his club football for Rostock in Russia, will be hoping to reverse the form guides once again as his band of plucky unknowns look to qualify from a group containing Brazil, Portugal and the Ivory Coast. Fanis, as he is known in his home country, topped the scoring charts in the European qualification zone – beating the likes of Wayne Rooney, David Villa and Miroslav Klose. The story could have been completely different however had his father not talked him out of following his dream of becoming a professional wrestler. Win a GGGN! German

As you may know, the Germany midfield supremo Michael Ballack has sustained an ankle injury which will keep him out of the World Cup. Great news for Germany’s rivals, not so great for me as I have already painted the Chelsea star.
After frantically painting a replacement in the form of Miroslav Klose, I now find myself in posession of a spare 33rd portrait.
One lucky person can win this portrait, normally priced at £200 but in the circumstances the value could be much more (or much less, to be honest I don’t know).
‘How do I win him’ I hear you cry, well to be in with a chance all you have to do is follow me on Twitter (my twitter name is @QuinkyArt) predict the Japan v England score and Tweet the following message:
Predict Japan v England score 2 win rare #gotgotgotneed portrait of Michael Ballack worth £200 ENG?-JAP? http://bit.ly/cWCLR3
Obviously you need to substitute the ?s for what you think the score will be when England face Japan in their next World Cup warm up on 30th May (this Sunday) in Austria.
So there you go, if you want to win this unique Michael Ballack painting simply follow, predict and tweet.
