About
‘Got, got, got, need!’ is a celebration of the colourful characters set to grace South Africa’s finest football stadia and also adorn the sticker collections of thousands of kids this summer.
Each canvas measuring approximately 16×12″ is a handpainted enlargement of an original thumbnail sketch. These 32 ultra limited edition one-offs have been painstakingly masked, sprayed and painted over the course of two months and are being exhibited at The Offside Gallery in Islington to raise money for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
‘Got, got, got, need!’ is also the mantra of many a swapsie* laden schoolboy and can be heard chanted up and down the nation’s playgrounds as the wheat of the ‘needs’ is extracted from the chaff of the ‘gots’.
*Swapsies are stickers that aren’t wanted, usually because they are duplicates of those already owned.
